Plymouth for the Sea Angling Classic let's meet and fish!

#SeaAnglingClassic #24SAC

The Journey Matters

The Sea Angling Classic is about so much more than the competition. It's the road trip with fellow anglers, the excited chatter as everyone arrives, and the sense of community once you hit the venue.

Competitive Fire

#24SAC

Sure, everyone wants to enjoy the social side of the Classic, but let's be real, that competitive fire burns bright inside all of us! There's nothing quite like the thrill of that first cast, the adrenaline when a big fish hits your line, and the dream of standing on the podium at the end of it all.

Boat – June – South: The Sea Angling Classic  20th– 23rd June

The third Sea Angling Classic will be held in the Solent and surrounding waters on 20th – 23rd June. It is one of the biggest boat angling events in the UK. Around 40 boats with nearly 100+ anglers take part and the prize table is one of the biggest in the UK with a boat, trailer and engine worth £120K up for grabs. The event is a catch tag and release event ticket sales will be on sale on Sunday 14th. The event is now based at Port Solent.

Okay guys, the Sea Angling Classic is getting close, and let's just say I'm freakin' pumped! If you've ever been, you know the drill – the buzz, the nervous energy, the obsession with getting your setup absolutely perfect.

Tackle Freak-Out

Right now, my garage looks like a fishing shop exploded. I'm re-spooling like a madman, tying rigs until my fingers cramp, and losing my mind over which lures to pack. Considering trying out [mention a specific gear tweak], hoping it might be my secret weapon.

Game Plan (Kinda...)

Of course, it's not all about rods and reels. I've been buried in tide charts, talking to every other angler I know, trying to figure out where the fish are gonna be hiding. Got a hunch about [briefly mention a potential hotspot], but hey, that's staying under my hat for now.

The Best Part

Honestly, half the fun of the Classic is the whole journey. The road trip with the crew, talking fishing non-stop, and finally rocking up to the beach to see all the other keen anglers... it's the best. Can't wait to catch up with some familiar faces and hopefully give the newcomers a run for their money!

Feeling the Burn

Yeah, we all want a good time, but come on, everyone secretly wants to crush this competition. That first cast, the heart-pounding moment when a monster slams your bait... there's nothing like it. Picture me on that podium, eh?

Come Along for the Ride!

Game on, folks!

Yacht Haven Quay played host to Plymouth's inaugural Meet & Fish competition in partnership with the Sea Angling Classic, with astonishing participation making it the largest fishing competition ever hosted in Plymouth.

For 2024, the Sea Angling Classic setup regional events around the UK to bring budding anglers together in fun, friendly catch-and-release competition days. Yacht Haven Quay Plymouth welcomed the event with over 20 boats participating!

After breakfast and a Skipper's Briefing by Ross Honey, teams took to the water aiming for bass, pollock and wrasse. The choppy seas in the morning eventually calmed down providing a beautiful, albeit crisp, spring day on the water!

Anglers returned to Yacht Haven Quay for après fishing including a warming Chilli from The Mess Room cafe and prize giving.

The standout winners were:

  • Martyn James with the biggest bass measuring 48cm

  • Leo winning best Junior

  • Mark White with the biggest wrasse measuring 42cm

  • Darren Hexter with the biggest pollock measuring 82cm

Thank you to LowranceYETIExposure MarinePENN FishingRAILBLAZA, and Crewsaver for donating prizes and to the Sea Angling Classic team for their organisation!

Gearing Up for the Sea Angling Classic 2024

The Sea Angling Classic – it's the pinnacle of competitive fishing here in the UK, and it's almost upon us! I've been buzzing for weeks, and with the event just around the corner, it's time for the serious prep to kick in. Whether you're a fellow competitor or just love following the action, let me take you behind the scenes of my Sea Angling Classic 2024 journey as the countdown begins.

The Gear Obsession

Every angler knows that feeling – the tackle shop is your playground! Before a big comp like the Classic, I'm fine-tuning everything. We're talking meticulously re-spooling reels, re-rigging traces, and agonizing over the perfect lure and bait selection to see if it gives me that competitive edge.

Strategy Time

It's not just about the gear; strategy is everything. I'm pouring over tide charts, studying past competition results, and talking to my fishing buddies. We're all trying to predict the hotspots and what species might be the key to leaderboard success. [Mention any local knowledge you might exploit - specific marks, etc.] I've got some ideas up my sleeve, but you know I'm not giving away my secrets just yet!

The Journey Matters

The Sea Angling Classic is about so much more than the competition. It's the road trip with fellow anglers, the excited chatter as everyone arrives, and the sense of community once you hit the venue. I'm looking forward to catching up with old rivals and meeting some new faces along the way.

Competitive Fire

Sure, everyone wants to enjoy the social side of the Classic, but let's be real, that competitive fire burns bright inside all of us! There's nothing quite like the thrill of that first cast, the adrenaline when a big fish hits your line, and the dream of standing on the podium at the end of it all.
